I know! I know! In my defense….ok yeah I have no defense. I’ve been on vacation for the last year basically. Don’t hate. Since Patrick started working remotely, we realized we could live anywhere in the continental US and decided to take advantage of it. I finished up all my shoots, we put everything in storage, sold the car, packed only our clothing and toothbrushes(and camera, obviously!) and set out!

Our first stop was San Francisco, which we LOVED. We stayed in one of those fabulous Victorians SF is known for and walked EVERYWHERE! The food was incredible(Burma Superstar, you own my heart!), the fruits and veggies so fresh, oftentimes picked just that morning. The only downside was the weather. It was freezing, chilled to the bone kind of cold. I came from Colorado, I know cold, this was worse! So…we said farewell to SF, ate one last fermented tea leaf salad at Burma Superstar(sounds disgusting, tastes heavenly), and headed south to San Diego.

I once spent a week in San Diego about ten years ago and remember it as the most perfect weather ever. It did not disappoint. Out came the sundresses and lemonade and flip flops along with my smile from ear to ear. My heart sang with the cool breeze in the palm trees, the warm sand under my tootsies and the golden glow I was getting on my normally plucked-chicken-white legs. I got feathers in my hair, I hung out at the beach, ate crazy-fresh sushi and pretty much loved every golden second. After our two months were closing in on being up and we were supposed to head to Portland I panicked. How could I leave this amazing place?! Well…I didn’t. We found an incredible place right on the beach in Oceanside, signed a year lease, and for the next 10 months at least, I am happily soaking up the sun and becoming victim to every southern California cliche known to man. Going blonde? Yup. Eating healthy? Yup. Shopping? Oh yes. Tattoos? Forthcoming. Recycling like my life depends upon it? You betcha!

I may be a bit biased but to me, the most beautiful girl in the world will always be my daughter, Ivy. Having just turned two and a half she is pretty sure she wants to be a pirate when she grows up, but maybe a ballerina. She hasn’t decided yet. I was recently asked how I got into photography and the answer is her. Before Ivy I was blissfully happy with my little point and shoot which I almost never used, but having a child changes you in ways you would never expect. Like working in HR and having your biggest client suddenly close because they lost THEIR biggest client, and how, within the space of two weeks, you can go from getting a giant bonus and being told how much of an asset to the company you are to being laid off…at four months pregnant. I was so certain I was going to want to go right back to work after having my child that I started job hunting immediately. Unfortunately, all of my possible employers asked about my availability, with both eyes on my baby bump.

I had wanted a better camera “to take better pictures” of my daughter and here is where my stereotype as a MWAC(that’s mom with a camera) began. So, after purchasing said entry-level DSLR I got a couple lessons from a 20 year veteran photographer and suddenly…I found something I had a passion for. Not like my other hobbies, scrapbooking, knitting, baking, sewing, this was something I OBSESSED about. I dove right in, and still haven’t stopped learning. I knew as soon as my daughter was born I was no longer the person I had been, the happy little office worker, who loved her m-f 7-4 job. Photography fit right in with the new me, the one who gets to hang with her ‘bestest buddy’ all day but still have my own thing going. I invested in top gear, workshops, and lots and lots of practice in order to be where I am today. All thanks to my lovely daughter, without whom, I would be back in an office, filling out paperwork.

Here’s to one of the great loves of my life, my Valentine, Ivy.

Miss M was not only fabulous to work with, she brought some drool-worthy shoes with her. Like her Christian Louboutin’s she bought…in Italy where she also picked up a sparkly pair of Versace’s. Jealous? You bet I am! Girlfriend had a booty to match her shoes – nothing short of jealousy-inducing! Our two hour session FLEW by but we got some absolutely stunning shots. More in her Gallery.

It occurred to me it might just appear as though I took a lot of couple’s shots, and a whole lotta ‘dudoir’ shots of L during L&K’s shoot from my previous posts. There’s a reason for that, K had her own shoot after the couple’s shoot(You can do that too!). So lest you think I was obsessing over the situation of abs going on with L, here are some gorgeous shots of K! (more in her Gallery!)

Flattery will get you everywhere with me. Like every other Photographer in the world, I live for validation. Sure, WE think we did a good job but we don’t really believe it until someone with no bias says it’s good. So if you ever feel like making me feel like a million bucks, go ahead and post a nice comment, I don’t mind, in fact, I revel in it. Normally I’m nice enough not to tease, but this image is so hot you are going to need to take this session in small doses. Monday I had my first couple’s boudoir session and let me tell you, the windows were steaming! I even blushed a bit just by the intense heat created by these two, and it’s hard to make me blush. I’m not even kidding, some of the looks between these two sizzled so much I was fanning myself…AND THEY WERE FULLY CLOTHED! K&L, you were so easy-going and great to work with, thanks for making my job so very easy with your hotness!
